The inspection starts with a walk around the exterior of the house for visible signs of termites such as mud tunnels and damaged wood such as garden bed sleepers in the yard. A visual inspection will be done inside the house to find wood-destroying insects either dead or alive, or droppings on window frames, as well as damage to wood siding, timber, fascia boards, gutters and drainpipes. External walls will also be checked for potential termite entry. Your termite inspector will also check your roof void and sub-floor plus any other “high risk areas” such as under decks or landings.

2. Termite Colony Control
Colony control means exactly that, managing the colony of termites. All termites must stay connected to the colony, so eradicating termites includes killing the active termite colony. Simply removing termites you can see using a DIY method does not do anything to kill the millions of termites living underground in the colony.

3. Termite Barriers – Chemical Soil Treatments
A chemical termite barrier treatment is the most common type of termite treatment. A chemical is used to create a long-lasting chemical barrier around the perimeter of your home which prevents termites from breaching the treated area, in other words, gaining access to your property. Chemical treatment barriers are installed at ground level and can be as low as 20mm in height or it can go up to 150mm in height depending on the treatment requirements.

4. Termite Baiting Systems
Termite baiting systems are a type of termite treatment that uses traps to lure termites in to feed on a cellulose material which contains a slow-acting insecticide. We offer a couple of different options for baiting systems, some that have chemicals inside the baits from the outset and some that do not. However, all termite baits are applied outdoors at regular intervals around the perimeter of your property where they will continue working for up to one year. There is no issue placing a termite baiting station in a high traffic area, and they don’t require any special construction or drilling of holes around the home.

5. Termite Proofing
Termite proofing is the last step in the process. It is identifying the places where termites are coming into contact with your home. These can be in the ground, under concrete patios or other paving surfaces, and any other places where there is an opportunity for termites to enter your home.
